We pride ourselves on providing solutions to clients no matter their needs or industry. Return-It is no exception.
This innovative business seeks to change the way people recycle bottles and cans by rewarding them for their efforts. They were in need of modified containers that were both functional and self-supporting.
We delivered durable and secure containers that easily received products and had a solar-powered connection to an iPad, eliminating the need for mains power connection. As a result, this eight-week end-to-end project now has the potential to be replicated across all of Return-It’s depots Australia-wide.
Situation
Return-It – which seeks to change the way people recycle while rewarding them for their efforts – approached Royal Wolf to develop an innovative solution for its bottle and can recycling depots.
Needs of the client
- A durable containerised solution
- Functional and self-supporting
- Ability to replicate at scale
Solution
After consulting with the client, we delivered modified containers that would tick every box.
Our modification experts came up with a solution that is fit for purpose, with features including:
- Tilting side shoots that receive product seamlessly for recycling
- A front-facing iPad touchpoint, with which the general public can engage during their recycling efforts
- Solar panels to power the iPad, which eliminate the need for mains power connection
Outcome
In the future, the solution has the potential to be replicated for other Return-It depots. There are currently more than 100 sites in Queensland, as well as sites in Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory.
The project took approximately eight weeks to complete, from briefing to the finished product.
