When one of Sydney’s most prestigious schools, North Sydney’s Wenona, set out to undergo a significant re-development of their buildings, they called on Royal Wolf to ensure school wasn’t interrupted to during construction.
Royal Wolf’s versatile shipping containers were able to provide solutions for two needs at once, as Wenona replaces their existing buildings with a new six-storey structure and pedestrian bridge crossing the street. The major construction, taking place over several months, would see a main pathway for students accessing buildings around the campus disrupted.
Eight containers were used as a site compound for the workers, including lunch sheds, change rooms, and bathrooms. Additionally, three container hoardings were set up as a bridge walkway to transfer students from one campus to another safely.
The Royal Wolf team installed the units in only two days, while overcoming the challenge of having limited space between the block of land and the existing school structure, and competing for bridge space.
Construction commenced in June 2017, and will be in use through to early 2018.
